After the Aurora Theater shooting we got swamped by news and government outlets looking for anything they could find to use against us and the 2A community at large. Some of us, myself included, were directly quoted from this site in news articles.

While it likely isn't the case for many here, it is a reality for some of us that our association here can and will adversely effect our employment should inappropriate comments or discussions take place. This could also significantly impact the very existence of this site. I know this first hand and without question. For those of you whose interests outside this site couldn't expect to see a negative effect I wouldn't expect you to understand.

Additionally, for those of you who wouldn't mind your mother seeing some of the things that get posted here without embarrassment, I question your values and lack of concern for your fellow members. We've always had an amazing membership group here who takes into account the image they portray for this site and the greater firearms community.

I simply ask that, in threads particularly of the "mass shooting" nature, we think about things bigger than ourselves and show respect to this site, its members and society at large by keeping our posts civil and decent.
