Bicycle carry

I’ve got a female student who is a avid mountain biker. She does a lot of biking in the Monument area where a bicyclist was murdered awhile ago (see link at end).

The only thing that comes to mind for on-body carry would be a horizontal or near horizontal small of the back holster. A fanny pack would work but it’d add a lot of time to the draw.

She’ll be carrying a Kimber Micro 9.

Can the community suggest methods of carry and/or products?

Chest mount might work for her, may be less likely to work on a woman though. I just carry normally when I ride, but I'm also not usually in bike gear.

Do not do small of the back. Falling on it would likely cause spine damage.

Seems to me that a fanny pack, especially with a woman's waist, would ride in the small of the back as well...

It was supposed to say WITH a safepacker. the fanny pack becomes your belt and the safe packer is like a big flap holster. Much like the sneaky pete.

Hill People chest pack mounted to a hydro bladder on the back. It would look totally natural, and keep it handy.
But I would worry more about plugging herself when she tumbles off the bike and the gun goes off. Probably small chance but a tumble at speed will produce odd loads.

I second this. I have used a Hill People Gear Subby bag for bicycle carry for years. They are a Colorado company and the bags are made in the USA, and are the perfect solution for this mode of carry, or any outdoors carry (say with a backpack using a hip belt)

If you’re talking about the same HPG Chest Bag I’m familiar with there are easy ways to incorporate a cheap Bladetech holster into it such that the trigger guard is completely covered until the user intends to withdraw the pistol. That and don’t carry guns that go off when you fall off a bike.

I typically wear spandex shorts, with a lightweight cargo short of some sort on top, with a regular riggers type belt and owb holster, so in other words I carry the same way I do any other time. Hasn't really been an issue for me, but then again I don't do 60+ miles either, usually 15-20.
