For what it's worth, in the order of my original response:

My cousins daughter has the above referenced Mossy, and that is what I am basing my magazine manipulation statements on. Also, as Irving asked, it really is just a plinkster/702 dressed up as an AR.
I do not recall any other complaints from them, other than the magazine woes.

I do not recall anyone I personally know that has had a troublesome S&W 15-22, and was suggesting the OP research current issues based on the exact Appleseed related info posted here. I do own one, but have not had it out shooting yet, so I do not have first hand info.

I do not, and have not had, a dedicated upper or a conversion kit. Tons of info out there, and with some research, I have no doubt that a good reliable unit can be found. Price could be a hinderance going this route.

I do have the Colt/Walther M16A2 clone. As I mentioned, the magazines were fairly pricey when I bought it and when I was stocking up, pre-legislation. I have not really been following current pricing, but I do think they have come down at least a little bit. It was a little finicky at first, but it smoothed out some after some breaking in. It still runs better with some ammo over others. Fun to shoot, and it does have an adjustable spring for tuning the bolt to the type of ammo you run. I dont know if the M4 or other variants they make have this feature, but I'm sure they do.

I will add, after seeing OP's reference to price, my suggestion would be along with Lobo's suggestion, or even a 10/22. Save money, get a fun and reliable rifle, and use the saving to stock up on cheap and plentiful (for now) ammo reserves.

Not to get too far off topic, but was the barrel/receiver mating one of your issue? I didn't mention it above, but I bought a Plinkster on the cheap, and couldn't figure out why it wouldn't hold zero. Found the pinned barrel to be loose/wallowed out at the receiver. Fun to shoot, and never had reliablity issues, but dang thing had NO accuracy.

The sig uses Black Dog Machine mags. Which are real good for the majority if not all the sig 522's and Ceiner style 22 conversions. Now who has a few boxes of those sitting in storage.......................

blocked to 15 rds of course.

The issues with the 15-22 have been resolved in the ones with the MLOK handguard. I love mine, it's perfect to train beginners on before they used the .223 version I have also with with an MLOK handguard.

Do those issues happen to be things that can be fixed if you have an older version? Mine is the "performance center" model too, don't know if that makes a difference. At worst mine tends to FTF once in a while and I really think it's due to one of the mags. I really should start marking the mag that causes this. Also what issues were fixed btw?

what brand of ammo and grain are you feeding it?

There probably isn't a single make and model out there that hasn't jammed up on someone at some point. Also that "camo" pattern is giving me a seizure.
