Default CLOSED - pistol caliber iron sights

I've got a pistol caliber AR chambered in .45 ACP and I can't find sights that can actually zero with it. I've tried a standard set that came on another rifle and a pair that I took off of an LWRC. They don't seem to be able to adjust low (they always aim too high which ever direction that is) enough even when adjusted as far as they'll go. I had a red dot on there that would adjust just fine but I prefer shooting with irons. Is there perhaps a shim or something I can use to adjust for this? Maybe sights designed for the piston caliber ARs?

You could try a taller front sight post maybe?

I didn't realize that was an option. I'll shop around for something like that.

Front sight picatinny mounted or fixed?

If pic mounted, what if you just raise it up with a picatinny attachment, a la GG&G? https://www.gggaz.com/mil-std-1913-p...sory-rail.html

It's picatinny mounted. Something like that might be too much, guess I could give it a try if the sight post doesn't work out.

    Default pistol caliber iron sights

What distance are you trying to zero?

When sights are centered on target at 10yd, where are impacts?

This is not a PCC problem for any 25-50yd zeroed platform I’ve worked with. I’m sure we can figure this out with some math and a decent group shot at 10-25yd (know the distance)

I’m thinking you may be trying to zero very close and also trying to eliminate HOB hold?

Thanks for the input, I was sighting in at 25 yards. Another member hooked me up with a pair of sights by diamond head that worked great. I'll have the thread locked now that the answer is out there
