    Default *Resolved* TV/Audio/Video help

    I have a

32" Samsung LED HDTV Model No. UN32J5003AF w/ no audio outputs

    A Kenwood A/V Receiver model no. KR-V6030

This will need to run the audio from the TV and the Playstation 3 through the surround sound. I don't plan to connect anything else (aside from speakers and sub to the receiver). The PS3 has a built in Blu-Ray/DVD player.

I run a Serviio Media Server on my computer to my PS3 to stream all of my movies and tv shows via a wireless router on my private home network (no internet connection currently).

With no audio outputs, how can I run surround sound?

Is there a switch, converter box or something that can make this possible without having to buy a new tv?

My current tv is 3 years old and I bought it from Best Buy and didn't realize it didn't have an audio output until a year and a half after I bought it.

You need a new receiver. The audio is on the HDMI and on the digital audio out at the top. Your receiver does not have HDMI from what I can see. You would hook up everything to your receiver and one HDMI out to the TV for video and the receiver runs the audio. Your TV is newer than the receiver and hence the incompatibility. I would wager 99.9% of all TV's are just like the one you have.

If memory serves me right, you need a digital to analog converter...Not super cheap and they do not work that great.

Could be cheaper units that do the same thing but if you look at the back cover you can see the multiple HDMI inputs and only one HDMI out that would send the video to your TV.

You should be able to make it work.

I spot an optical out on the TV,
    Could use this:

I'd rather not spend $200 on a new receiver. I'm pissed because I just bought this receiver off craigslist and I doubt the guy will take it back now. I'm out $50.

There are other options on amazon in the same vein. Some include the optical cable.
