Default Ductless mini splits Air conditioners

Anybody have any experience with them? Install issues or hang ups to watch for/consider? Effective for the price?

    Considering for shop/office application.

Expensive but if you have a finished room or no ductwork they work great, if they are in the right application. I see a lot where it is just too much for it to run, what kind of area are you looking at doing?

Very happy with the unit we have in the garage. It's a little undersized for the sq. footage but it's not a full time heavy usage one. The garage has R-14 spray foam insulated walls & ceiling, along with ceiling fans to move that 14' peak air. It's warm when needed and cool all summer.
I suggest the area you're considering it for be insulated, or you're wasting $$

Give me a little more time and I'll provide a review of what I bought, I'm painting now (airless sprayer)... once paint is on, I'll install the indoor units and activate.
I bought a kit with a 2.5 ton outdoor unit and 3 indoor wall units for an 1100 sq ft remodel. Not a lot of room for a full size air handler since most of the rooms are cathedral ceilings. I bought the whole setup from http://alpinehomeair.com for just under $3000.

Seems pretty well built for the price, good pre-sales support so far... but system isn't fully installed yet.

Well set insulation wise. What do you think your operating costs are at peak heat and cool?

That looks like good system for your region.

Not sure i keep the fan on quiet mode, with it set for 61 (heat) and 75 (Cool) So it runs all the time. It's hard to give an exact cost since there's a a lot of items in the shop that get used,.
