I'm not very serious about my gaming so I guess I'm what the kids call a "casual".

Anyway, I have been enjoying the hell out of a cheap little game called Ravenfield lately.

Its kind of a low-fi game similar to Battlefield (back when I first started playing it the player models were basically Minecraft style block men).

Anyway, its fun.

Battlefield 2 I played occasionally competitively, but mostly just recreational. It might be my all time favorite PC game. I used to have a sort of "gaming room" (yeah, a nerd) but a friend or two would come over and we'd all connect into the same game. Voice chat has nothing compared to the competitive edge you have when you can see your teammates screens. Sheeeeit. I still remember a round with the Apache where I went something like 43:0 KD and my gunner (in the same room) went something like 75:0 KD. The whole enemy team was gunning for us by the end. While most gaming is unmemorable; much of those two games still sticks with me. It's too bad DICE blew the donkey with the series thereafter.

YES!!! BF2 is by far the best FPS game I've played.... such memories. As for your Apache comment, I was the number 1 whirly bird pilot in that game in the US for about 4 months straight, and the number 3 fixed wing for about 2!!! Good memories...

Nice! Sadly in the competition scene for BF2 I got relegated to armor on the team despite out-flying the heli pilot and it absolutely being my strong suit. But, when the boss wants to fly helicopters whadda do. Not sure what I ranked at, it would have been high. Prior to the major nerf patch late in the game where they majorly buffed the AA missiles, I was all but un-killable. I mastered a specific roll to dodge any incoming AA missles without worrying about flares, and would circle target sites by yaw (nose forward always) which made it all but impossible to hit by sraw. We were kind of cruel in that I had a reasonable internal timer for helicopter spawns and I'd turn towards the enemy spawn where the gunner could TV guide a missile to take out the OP chopper at or shortly after spawn 95% of the time. People like us are probably why they got nerfed.

Do you still play BF2? I think I remember you in the master list for it. I know the official servers are down but there must be some activity unofficially... I just don't know how many servers/people are left. I haven't played in a decade. I also did BF 2142 which I found surprisingly fun; Vietnam kind of sucked for all I was anticipating (I did mod vietnam to integrate all the BF 1942 vehicles and added ballistics, that was fun but didn't release it out of our group). Once BF3 hit I gave up on the series, as they started to transition away from what battlefield was more to twitch gaming, e.g. half "COD".

There are some private servers that are ran, but alas, the game is all but dead in the public sector. Yup, I would use some of those same tactics... great memories. I needed that! I haven't played BF2 for over a year. Currently I'm in PUBG and waiting on the new BF to be released hopefully later this next year. I was not a fan of the latest BF1...
