Knife handles

I have a large knife (Some people call em Machetes) that I traded a guy a sign to make me a leather sheath and a new handle. The sheath is pretty much what I wanted but a little crude, and the handle looks good but it's too smooth and too small and too slippery. Can anyone here help me out?

You should be able to make a pattern of the machete tang and form your own handle out of any material you want. Just be careful if you use micarta or G10 as the dust is very toxic.

Try cutting a small section of bicycle inner tube.

If you make your own...micarta all the way. Looks good, can be sealed or left raw, and best of all its pretty grippy and only gets better if it gets wet. I like G10, but can be slick if not textured well enough.

I have a good friend of mine who is looking for a handle for his Damascus steel blade. He bought it without a handle. He asked if I knew anyone who makes knife handles. I thought about giving it a go but I'm unfamiliar with Micarta or some of the other material I saw out there. Any advice before I order material?

I recently started working with Richlite. http://www.richlite.com/ I like it a lot. As a bonus it's kinda grippy when wet. A laminated phenolic wood (Diamond wood). When I make a handle, I get it close and then grind the handle to fit the tang. Check into some of the more oily woods. Like cocobolo, ironwood, rosewood. Below is a multicolor laminate. A bit loud. If you want a piece, I could probably make it happen.
