Default eabco and tc encore barrels, first ever negative review...

Here's the review, decide for yourself...

    Thank you for product feedback!

Thank you for providing your feedback at E. Arthur Brown Company Inc.

Below is the review you have entered. Feel free to contact us if you have any questions.

Product Name: TC Encore Pro Hunter 223 Remington 28'' Stnls Fluted Barrel
    Headline: grumpy customer

Review: First off, I order what I assume is a new barrel, when the barrel arrives, I run a cleaning patch down it, and it comes out black, as in shot a lot black. So I run some wet patches down it and they're full of copper and powder. This barrel was advertised as a new barrel, and after getting it cleaned (appx 40 patches, and jb's just to make sure) the bore looks like crap. I am very disappointed that I tossed the box when it arrived, because it would of been returned. So, I take it out to the range with a hope and prayer, and after trying 5 different load combinations (50gr vmax, 55gr vmax, 60gr vmax, 52gr amax and 55gr sbk) , it's still a pattern barrel (1.5 to 2moa), that is a pain in the rear to clean compared to shilen, bartlein, lilja or a kreiger premium barrel. Overall, a complete waste of time and money. I will not do business with eabco or TC ever again.

Well, a website feedback system isn't usually meant as a way to contact customer service. The response is probably automatically generated (it's just acknowledging you left feedback/review).

Pick up the phone, or find a customer service email address and contact them directly.

Leaving a review if you want them to fix something is passive-aggressive BS.

can't do shit, tossed the box and they require it...Last time I do that again. First time ever paying for a new barrel and getting a used one...Sure as hell looked new until the patch of truth went down the tube...

That's a real bummer. It sounds like you bought a TC barrel from a third party? Even though you're out of luck, you may want to let TC know that their distributor is hawking used barrels as new.

This sounds more like it has to do with Eabco than TC. Eabco sells aftermarket barrels as far as I know.

I only have TC barrels and have never had an Eabco. Am I wrong thinking they are aftermarket?
Edit: looking it up, I see they sell TC barrels along with their custom barrels. Was it an actual TC barrel or one of theirs?

I just purchased my 3rd Encore yesterday in .338 wm. All but one of my TC barrels have been excellent.

So you say you got a shitty, used barrel instead of a new one from E. Arthur Brown Company Inc., aka EABCO? And they told you to FO&D?

I would like to think they just had a mix up and sent you a used barrel that was sent back for service or replacement. However, if Eabco, or E Arthur Brown CO is going to treat customers like that, I won't be doing business with them. I have only been using an Thompson Center Encore to hunt with for the last 17 or so years, and owned several Encores and TC Contenders. Of the twenty or more barrels I have owned, all have been original TCs. It still sounds to me lime thus is a problem with EABC and not Thompson Center. Maybe if you contact TC directly they will correct the issue.

He used the site "leave feedback" or "leave a review" option, which is not the same as contacting customer service about a problem with your order...

EABCo may eventually read that review and try to get back in touch with him, but the email quoted was just an automated response to indicate it had been received by the feedback/review posting system.
