Joe_K, a few years back on SH Frank used to joke about Dillo Dust and how he uses it on everything — whether true or not I don’t know. For a while he had a spat with Mark.

I’ve never met Frank, but I have no issue with him. He and I would likely see eye to eye on a lot, as well as literally (lollipop guild, unite!).

ETA: strike my last. I just remembered I met him at SHOT a while ago, though it was brief.

ETA2: Yes, Frank is polarizing. But the reason so many dislike him is the same reason I really like him: he has no time or inclination to stroke the egos of the conventional wisdom train. His reviews are actually useful, his advice is based on facts, and he provides a good, hard, legible line int he dirt. Too many guys who write in the gun industry are fluffy and don't stray too far from the line. Frank is willing, when necessary, to say things are stupid, not based on testable data, and that the problem with your shots are likely fundamentals and not equipment based.

Does that mean I always like what he has to say, or that his word is Gospel? No, of course not. There are situations where there are multiple right answers. But having something substantial and pointed to go off of is much more helpful than half the trash out there passed off as shooting knowledge and equipment reviews.

The episode he did with Brian Whalen was really enlightening on some things:
