coyote calling, and bobcats

So I invited a friend of mine to go out Sunday to do an all day coyote hunt. Unfortunate for him, he wasn't able to go along because he missed a good day on the prairie. Not was I just covered up with coyotes all day, but I also had a close encounter with a big ol bobcat. I was lucky enough to have my point and shoot camera in my pocket and got a few good shots with it. I hope to get back and try to call him in again once season opens. It's been a few years since I called a cat in, figures I finally do it and I can't shoot to kill. I believe I could've made that shot with the rifle, 25 yards.

Managed to call in 13 coyotes, killed 10 of them. Two had mange and got left behind. Seems to be a bit less mange this year than the last couple of years. I hope the trend continues.

Again nice work dude ! I forgot you were over here too, I responded to your thread on the other forum.
By far the most exciting type of hunting Ive ever done. Just crazy sometimes. Keep it up !
Not sure if Ive ever called a cat in , never saw em at least. Ive read they like to hang up and watch.

For the most part the bobcats are pretty far and few between on the eastern plains. Now, get around some creeks and the numbers rise a bit. There are more in the hills/mtns. for sure. I do see a cat track or two each winter out east, but not very often that we cross paths. I am planning on hunting this pasture a few more times this winter with fingers crossed that I find this big cat again, and if nothing else maybe next time I'll call a coyote because I know they frequent the area.

Stupid me for figuring he had run away when the cat crept up on his hiding spot! I now understand he was hiding the "calling thing" and he himself had set up a view on it! Tricky! No wonder we kill most animals before they kill us!

I have located a couple kitties as well so I will most likely wait until after the 1st to get out! I will Hopefully get out more this year too! Congrats!

I wear camo from head to toe. No reason to use a blind really. It would be one extra thing to carry, and it's simply not necessary. The cat sat there for a few minutes and looked right at me several times and never picked me out. NOW, if a coyote were that close it wouldn't take him long to figure me out. PLUS, a coyote would've used his nose to figure out the call, where a cat won't go out of its way to use its nose, BUT if the cat happens to get downwind, they will smell you.

Depending on weather, I might have to kit up as I only have cold weather camo, but I'd love to go out with you some time if you'd have me, (my) schedule permitting. I do have cans.
