Default Looking for cheap exterior double doors

The side of my house was once a carport, with the driveway extending along the side of the house. The carport has long since been dried-in, and is now a storage / shop area. There is a 36? man door at the end of the driveway, and I?d like to expand to double doors, so I can easily get the bike in and out. These $149 pre-hung doors on the Lowe?s website would be perfect (cheap, not fancy), but they?re not available here. I went to the store and tried to order them, and not only did the price quadruple, they said that they wouldn?t even know for 12 weeks when they?d come in. I can?t find any basic utilitarian double doors - everything is fancy and real pricey. Any ideas where I could find something similar to these?

You can try Habitat For Humanity (closest to you is next to Medved), but that's a bit of a crap shoot of what they have in stock at any given time. There are a few other used building material places around town as well.

Good idea - I’ll check tomorrow. Thanks

I walk though Hd and Lowe’s to look for custom rejects. I’ve had issues installing without the frame attached. TRY NEXTDOOR YOU’ll love it.

Tried Habitat for Humanity, as well as Bud’s (which has moved, no longer on E. 46th). Nothing at Habitat, Bud’s had several interior double doors, but no exterior/entry doors. Surprised these are so hard to find.

Jamnanc - what is this “Nextdoor” you speak of?

Buds was the other one I was thinking of but couldn't remember their name. Haven't been to the new location.

It’s not as big as their old spot, and seems like they got rid of a ton of stuff to make the move. Good thought though.

You could try BMC West but I don't think you'll find it for that price.

What if you took two regular doors and put them on barn door sliders? Only thing with that is that I don't know how you'd lock them.

I actually considered that, may still, not sure I have enough lateral room for sliding. I figure they’d have to lock from the inside, . Weather-proofing is my bigger concern. That would be a fun project though.
