Default Are cobblers still a thing?

Have a pair of leather or fake leather motorcycle shoes I really like, but are pretty new and popped a seam at the heel. Don't want to order another at $120. Basically new were super tight despite and it ripped right along side the little rear pull tab and is opening up. Figured it's as simple as a ugly but simple reinforcement leather or nylon strap either threaded inside along the curve of the heel or even just stitched over the outside.

I remember 20 years ago actually seeing shoe repair type places, but havn't seen one that I can remember? Do I just need to go raid my parents old sewing supplies, or anyone know an appropriate place north/central CO. Driving or shipping to someone in the springs probably crosses the line into forget it order new anyways.

ETA: Jim's doesn't seem to have a website, which I oddly consider in their favor. Tells me he's a small operation and probably focused on his craft rather than drumming up a ton of business.

Ive taken stuff to Jim in Brighton. Very fair, honest and quick turnaround. Small shop in Brighton. Coming from the west go highway 7/160th/bridge to main st. Go north and he is quick on right hand side.

He does resoles, repairs etc. He has done a few pair of boots, fixes leather items like purses and vests as well. Doug is a great guy and has been doing this for a long time.

Cobbler's Corner in downtown Denver is amazingly capable and surprisingly affordable. They are really really really super gruff, though.

I have earned their favor, however, and they return my "hi" when I walk in. This because I fixed their ipod-based music system one day while waiting to have heel taps replaced.

Worried what I'll need to do to earn the favor of my farrier, scrivener, and plague doctor. I'll ask the soda jerk later.
