This 101-year-old woman brought down two deer with a single shot during hunting outing

Talk about getting bang for your buck.

A 101-year-old Mississippi woman managed to strike down two deer with one bullet during a recent hunting outing, the Clarion Ledger reported.

Bertha Vickers says she initially let one doe pass in hopes of a bigger deer showing up. When one did, she didn't miss her shot.

"Then I saw two deer on the ground," Vickers told the newspaper. "It shot plum through both of them. They both dropped right there. They didn't take another step. I knew it was back there, but I didn't realize it was that close to her where it could get shot."

It's the first time Vickers, who celebrated her 101st birthday earlier this month, has managed to bring down two deer with one shot, she said.

It also marked the first time she's hit a deer this season, as she missed on her first four attempts, according to the Clarion Ledger.

She told the newspaper that she's going to continue hunting for "as long as I can."

Vickers, who lives in Morgantown, said she celebrated her triumph by helping to clean the deer and gave much of the meat to her grandchildren, aside from keeping a few steaks for herself.

What I got out of that is that 101 year old women was out hunting dear. Wow!! That means I might have 43 more Elk hunts left.

    For?

In most states, one can get multiple deer on a single tag. Only the states where it's a tourist draw have 1 for 1 limits.

Looking online Mississippi has 5 hunting zones, in 4 of those 5 zones the bag limit is 3 antlerless deer per season with no daily limit, in the 5th zone the limit is 1 per hunting day with a season limit of 2.

Missed her first four shots? I'm thinking if she looks around some more she might find she hit four or five deer with that "single shot".

A family friend many many years ago did this, two with one shot, and at the time he didn't even know he did it. He didn't find out until he went to recover the doe only to find another laying just a few feet behind her. He was shooting a 45-70 lever gun, so the shot wasn't that far but some how he didn't see that there were two deer standing there.
Laws aren't "preventable" measures. IOW, more gun laws won't stop mass shootings.
