    Default At home med kit.

So after a minor boo boo I had to run to the store and get a box or two of bandaids, gauze, etc. This pointed out to me that the cubic foot or so of supplies I have on hand is inadequate for anything bigger than a minor injury.

What is the propper amount of med supplies?
    Which ones?
    How to keep them organized?

This is for at home med care. Can any of you point me in the right direction?

The answer varies with your abilities.

I've got gauze, clamps, scalpels, sutures and prepared dressings, but I know what to do with those, if the need arises.

If you don't know what to do beyond pills, ice-packs, topical creams and bandaids, then those are sufficient for your level of expertise.

I guess the correct question would be: If the worst you know how to handle were to happen, do you have supplies on hand with which to handle said worst emergency?

I picked up a cheap OSHA compliant 10 person construction first aid kit and mounted it to my garage wall. It has band aides, gauze, clotting agent, some sort of burn treatment and something for your eyes. Basic boo-boo stuff. I don't keep medicines in it because I have a medicine cabinet in the house. It's mostly for the minor cuts, scrapes, and ouchies that occur in the shop. Also got a zip lock bag for fingers.

We have individual and family sized first aid kits in the bin of camping stuff in the house, and Adventure Medical kits in the cars. So I'm not really talking about prep for the end of the world, but basic practical use around the house. Nice to have all that stuff in one place for the day-to-day little tragedies of life. It's also mounted next to a mid-sized B/C fire extinguisher.
Math is tough. Let's go shopping!
