    Default Model railroad collectors?

    Anyone know of a good place to sell some old model trains?

    Wife has a bunch of old trains she got from her Dad. They are American Flyer series S-gauge trains (I believe this pre-dates the more popular HO scale.)

    From my research (and my wife's recollections) these trains date to the mid 1950's, prior to American Flyer being acquired by Lionel. We have quite a bit of rolling stock, tracks, and 3 transformers.

    Just trying to get an idea of where might be a good place to sell these other than just listing them on CL. I know eBay is probably a bigger market but I'm not sure we want to put effort into boxing up and mailing these, would prefer to sell locally.

    If anyone out there is a model train collector (or knows someone who is) and is interested, shoot me a PM.

    There used to be model train shop on Broadway but I'm not sure if it's still there.

    It was torn down. It?s now in Lakewood. I think it?s on Union off Kipling.

    Like everything else it will depend on what you have. As in gun colecting and so on there is stuff that was mass produced and not really worth anything and other stuff that if you know what you are looking for will bring big money, if you dont want to spend the time to research what you have value wise as well as spending the time dealing with buyers and shipping just sell it all as a single lot on ebay. Start it as a penny no reserve auction. You should get what its worth on the used market, if there is anything of value in there someone will get into a bidding war.

    There is a show in Denver this weekend, plenty of folks would be interested I suspect since it is advertised at the largest show west of Mississippi River:

    A friend is big into model railroading-he said for a shop Caboose is really the only game in the metro area. I have two passes to the show this weekend, I'm happy to pass them on to you if you want. The only problem might be setting up a time to meet, let me know.
