In what regard? Could you be a bit more explicit in what you're asking?

    My first thought too.

    My standards for me?

Or my standards that I think should be applied to everyone who wants to carry?

If the latter, the answer is easy: None. It's a right.

My guess is that he's talking about some minimum threshold of performance on a drill or drills.

    Irving got it.

Minimum threshold for performance on a given carry setup (gun/holster/carry style combo)

    For YOUR comfort.

There are plenty of non-committed answers there. No big deal, if you don?t have any, need not post. I get it. No need to justify. If all ty can carry is a single shot 22 in your prison pocket, still better than nothing blah blah blah.

    Moving on

Not the best answer, but when I first started competing, I remember a particular stage where I had to lean around a barrel to engage a target. I was blasting away and didn't see any hits on the threat target. I leaned out a little further and saw that I was lighting up a No-shoot that I didn't even see. That really made an impression on me at an early stage that if I was going to be carrying a gun, I had better be able to hit what I'm aiming at. Pretty low threshold, but it did a lot to cement my belief in training and at least being a minimum level of proficient for my own comfort. I HATE hitting no shoots on stages.

So you're saying you adopted Russian SWAT standards early on but have shifted to a more conventional American approach since?

    ------

Typically, if I add a new wardrobe item, I will make sure I can draw the thing and present without snagging or other weird things happening.

I only carry the same pistol (G43) w/ same holster (HBAR OWB), so I don't have a need to go back and forth on training due to multiple setups.

    Ha!
Do you try and quantify the failure threshold with distance, time or target size?

No, I just have a rule where I'm not allowed to shoot no-shoot targets. Despite shooting with you guys for years, I've only actually done a drill once and have never set a standard for myself. I try to do better at matches (when I'm in shooting season and actually shooting) as a kind of "a rising sea lifts all boats(skills)" tactic in general.
