Default Anybody do coax cable installs?

    Hi,
Got some 20+ year old coax cable that is need of replacement. I mainly need it replaced from the suspended overhead line to the interior of the house. Approximately 100' in length. Any recommendations? I'm sure Comcast would want an arm and leg for the cost.
    Thanks,
    Duane

Option to sign up for maintenance @$8/month or whatever if this is cable TV? Get it replaced, drop maint (maybe 3,6 or even one year is worth it).

At least for my brothers house, from the power pole to the house was Comcast's problem.

Once in the house, it was our problem.

Are we talking a line that is on the outside of home and punched through an exterior wall? Through attic? Wall fish?.....

As far as a normal trouble call, I can not recall a time where I charged to rewire / replace an outlet on a run of the mill trouble call and the line to the house is Comcast responsibility. Schedule a trouble call to at least get your issue evaluated they might say that a charge on the call is possible but I can not recall the last time I closed a call with a code that would get the customer charged.

My word is not the be all end all, and I do not speak as a Comcast rep but essentially as a Comcast customer Comcast takes responsibility to repair issues from tap to television and there are the rare occurrences that would require some sort of charge and I stress the word rare. In this market they typically try to avoid wall fish work on interior walls for some reason.

The existing cable functions, but there seems to be quite a bit of resistance in the line. I've been told that the SNR is high. I figure after 20+ years of being in the elements, it wouldn't hurt to replace it. The line is on the outside of home and punched through an exterior wall (about 12" above the ground).

Who’s telling you that? Comcast? They should be the ones replacing it, if its the service feed that is coming in it’s theirs to maintain.

After logging in to the modem, it seems the power levels run from -6 to -8.8 and the SnR runs from 36.5 to 41.4 over 24 channels.

Based on the following link those numbers are good numbers..

    https://forums.businesshelp.comcast....ips/td-p/25861

Signal to noise you should have at least 35 and the higher the number the better, and for power level -10 to +10 is acceptable with -7 to +7 being ideal.

What are the Internet speeds you're getting? Are you getting less throughput than what you're paying for? Do you see a really high number of errors on the cable modem?

I found my lower speeds a couple of years ago were due to my older cable modem. Replaced it with an Arris Surfboard SB6190 - 32 downstream channels, 4 upstream. I now get more speed than what Comcast charges me for.
