Default VR: Price points are reasonable.

Finally snagged a Vive used off ebay - with the deluxe audio strap and cooling fans for $350. Very easy to enter at that price point - much more reasonable than ~3 years ago. You could even get into pro pretty reasonable by going the ebay/facebook marketplace route.

It's definitely different from any gaming experience I've ever had. If you've got the floor space, I can tell you having one will be a hit with anyone that comes to visit. For something that originally was closer to $900, this is just a reminder to ya'll with decent computers that since the Vive is getting close to launching their third generation (Cosmos?), the prices have fallen into a realm I at least feel is incredibly reasonable for what they are.

I haven't played any "gun games" yet - I'm not overly attracted to those tbh. Archery stuff is fun as heck though.

Ones I have / love so far:
Skyrim - Modded (Getting stuff that surprises you with a bow is awesome, mods update the game to more modern graphics)
    Beat Saber
The Lab (Archery game, space invaders game)
Ritchie's Plank Experience (this is intimidating when you use a real board, I set it up and it still "got" me hard)
Google earth VR... how they made some of their 3d models is beyond me from sat imagery. They have the shapes of all the vehicles plus they properly 3D modeled a LADDER leaning against the house, and the sofits. It's beyond impressive, and scary. Boulders, trees, buildings, terrain, all of it is 3d modeled in VR.

    And quite a few more.

I was all set to get Beat Saber, but then apparently they tightened down the restrictions on using custom music. Do you know if that's still in effect?

While I would never publicly advocate certain things, you might be able to find it available on a certain pirate themed website v. 0.11.02 w/ mod manager. Seems to work fine, didn't pick up any firewall or virus issues.

ETA: It came with like 140 songs, pretty sure you can add more.

Everything else I paid $ for, for the record. Don't try to dl skyrim off there, it has a trojan payload.

Even without custom songs, beat Saber in is worth it.

I got an Oculus Rift last November when they were blowing out the old models. Love it.

If you are looking for some "gun games" I got a LOT of hours out of Gun Club VR. Lots of shooting gallery type things to do with all sorts of different guns. I also got into Zero Caliber which is more like a Call of Duty campaign experience with optional co-op. I'm not a big fan of the competitive shooter.

A type of game you don't have listed is the gladiatorial combat genre. Gorn is a silly/gory game. Blade and Sorcery is still in pre-release but has a strong mod scene that's continually adding fun new weapons.

For those wondering about Beat Saber custom songs they get a lost every time there's an update to the game but the mods are normally back online within a day. We're up to about 350+ plus on our list.

Hotdogs handguns and hand grenades (or whatever it is) seems to possibly have some appeal. I love the plank experience for demoing to people... You can configure it with a real plank of any dimension. Really makes it immersive even if you are the one that configured it. (I almost fell on my ass when I fell off) I like to tape off where the board was and place it in after the headset is on (so they don't know you have a real plank setup). You can put it on boxes for more height too. Other people's reactions are as much fun as playing the game is, personally!

I only have a PS4 VR, but Rec Room is a lot of fun and people in all systems can play together. Super Hot is WAY more fun than it looks. Highly recommended.

A little late to the party, but I picked up a Rift S for $350 around Christmastime, when they were on sale. I love that the new model is self-contained, with no need for external sensors or anything. I've been enjoying the crap out of Star Wars Vader Immortal (Because who doesn't like VR lightsaber duels?), Star Trek Bridge Crew, and Hotdogs, Horseshoes, and Hand Grenades (Hereafter H3). I also have Boneworks, been trying to get into it.
