    Keep an eye on the farm and garden section of Craigslist for your area. There are often people looking to downsize a flock or get out of chickens that have layers for sale or free. You can always put up a wanted advert if you don't want to regularly check the site.

    Some tractor supply have monthly critter swaps. Usually there?s someone there with birds laying or about to start laying.

    Nice. I've got five, but only four lay, and one of them I don't expect to live through the winter. I'd like six layers. I like giving eggs to the neighbors, but with only four layers, it takes too long to build up a surplus.

    Are you going to post anything about your coop/run?

    This is when I first built it nothing special. I usually open the gate and them run around the yard when the dogs are in.


    We got a new fence installed and I had some left over so I drilled them into the side. It has two nesting boxes right now

    I have a Brittany but he isn?t at my house. We have a lab mix and German Shepard mastiff Pyrenees mix I don?t really trust them with the chicken haha
