Default Anyone had a car shipped cross country?

I have a pickup that my brother is purchasing. He is in the Boston area and neither of us wants to do the 30 hour drive.

The truck is immaculate and I'd like to wrap part of it with an auto transport film that new cars come with. An enclosed transport really sends the price up. Ballpark now is around $1250.

    Experiences shipping ?

    Good companies?

Last one we shipped had to have ALL the fluids drained and no battery. But that was for an overseas sale. The question to ask is what's their insurance coverage if damaged.

I suppose if you gave me $1200 I?d drive it to him. That would save you $50.

$1250 is very reasonable If they package it well. I use car haulers all the time and minimum is $625.

I forgot that the price is for open transport...I received a price of $2500 for his coming out here and mine going back. I'm sure there is some savings dialed in due to the immediate pick up and return of the second vehicle. I don't believe they do any packaging. I was going to purchase a roll of film and put it on myself.

I wouldn't wrap anything on an open transport. I could just imagine that film beating the piss out of the paint with every little speck of dust for entire ride.

Go with a well know, quality company and check with your insurance about coverage. I shipped a car to Connecticut and the driver took a 2 week detour and damaged the car to the tune of $2,000. Make sure the shipping trucks are owned by the shipper and confirm they don’t use subcontractors.

ray1970 and Irving surely wouldn't do anything like that, would they?
