Default Two Buttes Reservoir emergency fish salvage

Water levels at Two Buttes Reservoir in S.East Colorado are at extremely low levels and in order to prevent a massive waste of fish life CPW has removed all bag and possession limits for any fish caught there.. Go get 'em! Just wish it was a bit closer.

I don't know the area. Does that lake ice over, or is it open water fishing for the winter?

I do not have first hand knowledge of Two Buttes freezing over but doubt the lake is ever covered. I would bet there is plenty of open water all winter.

Based on the location I doubt it stays frozen over the winter if it freezes at all.

There used to be a sweet swimming hole there called the black hole. Cliff jumping.

It was closed a few years ago when they lowered the water for dam repairs. I'm not sure if it was ever reopened.
