I'll really look hard at my next one, as I love the concept, but really need to trust it for EDC. If they all lose the slide, then I just will never be able to trust them and will need a "locking" mechanism, even if I have to give up the automatic, out the front.

That's the thing, the ones I like have been discontinued. I'm glad I picked up a spare one but now I don't want to carry it in fear of not being able to replace it. They are truly a great knife.

You have a knife 'safe queen'? I'm not sure I get the point of having a knife that you don't use, unless it's collectible.

The date on the blade of my discontinued Kershaw Avalanche is FEB 08. If it broke, I'm pretty sure I can find something else.

I wouldn't call it a safe queen but I haven't had the need to use it yet. So yes, it does just sit in the safe along with other items that are used daily, such as guns. Can't that I 'use' all of my guns either.

I got one getting delivered today! Can't wait to play with it!

I have to say that I never knew what it was like to have a 'nice' knife. The benchmade boost is bigger than the Kershaw I was carrying and it feels like half the weight. Action is buttery smooth and it is EXTREMELY sharp.
