Default Washing Machine Died - Suggestions for Replacement Brand / Model

Well, the washing machine went belly-up. It's very old, I don't want to repair.

Any suggestions/recommendations/experience with good brands/models is appreciated.

Bounding the problem, don't care if front or top load. Don't need anything fancy, like these $2K computerized-launch-system washers.

Never bought anything other than the cheap top load ones you see everywhere.

If you go to Lowe?s, they often have a few that are about half price due to dents or other cosmetic issues. May want to start your search there or Craigslist for a used one if you would prefer to save money.

Maytag front loader with 'Fresh Hold'. Made in 'Merica. Had it for a several years now and it still smells fresh inside. No mold or stinky smells. Can't say that for the LG it replaced.

I got a Whirlpool front loader. Had it for 13 years. Still works good... it is called a Sport Duet I bought in 2007.

Just died on you? I had a few weeks warning before my clothes washer went out. Packing her bags and saying i'm leaving, was the first hint

Nothing worse than having your clothes washer and dishwasher going out at the same time.

I have that scene memorized. The Irish did see some serious discrimination.

This was timely since March is Irish American Heritage Month.
