LED lighting in garage
Since I have ample time to work on random house projects, I was thinking I'd upgrade the lighting in the garage. The garage is roughly 20'x20' and currently there are two incandescent sockets and the garage door opener as my sources of illumination.
Does anyone have any recommendations on LED lights and how many I need?
There's a fine line between cuddling and holding someone down so they can't get away.
Harbor freight leds and use the same formula as fluorescent it will be so much brighter

My Harbor Freight has the 4' LED for sale for $29.99, which is the same price as the two for $60 at Costco, or one for $30 at Home Depot. Do it, you won't regret it.
Anyone have these LEDs from the freight and also have HAM stuff? Curious if they cause interference.
I picked up 4' LED shop lights at Home Depot a couple of years ago, they were on sale for $11.99 IIRC. I snagged 10 of them and they were one of the best purchases I could have made, no more fluorescent bulbs, ballasts and accompanying issues.
Very happy with the bright white light they provide.

Great question. I think earlier LEDs and CF bulbs caused this problem, but I haven't heard much about it lately. I've had my ticket since '91. Keep the receipt and just return em if they cause noise?Originally Posted by 00tec

I installed a bunch of the Feit fixtures in the basement.
These hang from a chain like a fluorescent fixture. The screw-mount option has goofy spacing.
These have a regular 2-prong AC cord on one end and a 2-prong AC socket on the other end. You can daisy-chain ?4 from one plug.
The two-packs go on-sale periodically on the Costco website. The shipping is not combinable- for two fixtures, you pay double the shipping.

I have since bought a bunch of the Barrina 6500K lights from Amazon. These are 4' long low-profile strip lights. You use screws to screw the provided spring clips to a ceiling; the lamps snap into the clips.

They feed from an AC power cord, special butt connectors, or special extensions.
They come in a 6-pack ($44, with six AC power cords) or as a 8-pack ($53, with four AC power cords).
You can daisy-chain 6 from a plug. You can daisy-chain fixtures in a row with the special butt connector.
I have two benches at work with poor lighting.
I mounted three strips under each top shelf, connected them with the short extensions, then ran the AC cords to switched outlets.

I put LED's in the garage a few years ago. After that I started having issues with my garage door remote not being very effective from a distance. Almost had to be in my driveway before it would open IF the lights were on. If I turned the lights off it went back to normal. Also had the same issues prior to putting LED shop lights in when I had replaced the lights in the opener with LED's. I don't know if the newer openers or newer LED's have this issue but mine does. I now turn the lights off in the garage unless I am out there working and I have gone back to normal lights in the the opener.
Same . . . several years ago I swapped out the actual opener bulbs with LEDs and our openers and remotes went wackadoo. All sorts of odd behavior and working sporadically. Took them out and everything went back to normal.
