    Default Summit County Range info?

Curious about Summit County Range. Has anyone been out there this year so far?

Not talking about the current stay-at-home-order stuff, just more general info such as, does it get really crowded, wait times to use lanes, etc? I would figure any public range - especially one with no range fees - gets pretty full during mid-summer, is that right?

What are the facilities like? Do they have benches or shade of any kind?

The thing that appeals to me about Summit County vs someplace like Baker Draw is that there's other stuff to do in Summit county so it would be easy to make a day of going up into the mountains, doing some shooting and then also maybe going kayaking at Dillon reservoir or even just going on a hike. Whereas with Baker Draw, there's not a lot else to do other than shoot.

Anyway, even assuming that most stuff in Summit county is currently shut down, I'm curious to know if once things open back up it might be a decent place to do some shooting.

I haven't been up this year, but as of last fall, it's very nice. No range officer on duty, so you do have to watch out for people with no gun handling experience. 100 yards is the longest they have, half covered, half open air. There is a 50 yd rimfire/pistol section, 100 yard anything, and a clay throwing section, if my memory serves me. I haven't used the clay area since they installed permanent throwers, but I believe you just bring the clays and shoot away! Weekends can be busy, but if you go on a weekday in the summer, you're probably only sharing the range with a couple other shooters. Usually has a supply of free targets and earplugs on hand, too. Looks like they're open, just no RSO on duty (which I've never seen anyways) https://www.summitrange.org/. Plenty of other things to do up there (especially if you fish!).

FYI, if you care - it's under constant video surveillance.

Sorry, didn't really answer your other questions:

Yes, each lane has a permanent concrete bench/table. There is a covered (high metal roof) section on the 100 yard range...other than that, shade is pretty scarce. I go weekdays in the summer (usually towards the evening) and don't usually have to wait for a lane.
