Dual purpose yeetle yees in tac6

So around a year and a half ago, I got a wild hair up my ass to make a matched pair of tac6's. 1 in an AR15 platform, and one in a bolt gun/PRS style. The ar came first, since it was the cheapest to build. Barrel, bolt, upper and other legos to add on and I was done. So, after looking at other load data on the different forums, I found a reliable load for a 95gr SMK with 30.2gr of Lvr and said ok for the AR...Took it out to Nebraska, validated that the 95gr smk's don't like varmint cong and called it good. After scrounging around the house to come up with the funding, I had the reamer cut from PTG, picked up a chassis, got a TL3 and ended up buying a Rock Creek 6mm barrel w/a 1-8 twist. After finding a new gunsmith down in Trinidad that is of the old school values on the lathe, I paid him to chamber the barrel. He timed everything up for my lil yeetle yee, and here is the result...Still working on the barrel break in, and had to do the shoot 1 clean, shoot 2 clean...etc...Scope sight in was the middle target, or large diamond with 5rds of 30.2gr of cfe223. Both top small diamonds had the same 5rd cfe load, along with the lower right diamond. Orange dot and lower left diamond were the lvr load. All the velocities are at the bottom. Still can't get over how dirty cfe is after 5 shots...











Just a note, all loads were on a Dillon RL550B...

Interesting project building the pair.

My go to load for my TAC 6 is CFE and 105gr Berger VLD Hunting, dirty but effective. Sweet spot for my 18" barrel is 2670fps. Load is about a grain lower than max but accuracy is quite good and SD is 5-6fps. Typically 0.7 and 0.6 MOA groups at 200.

VLDs aren't my favorite hunting bullets, but it dropped a mule deer in its tracks last fall.

The TAC 6 is a lot of fun at distance with so little recoil. Very similar to 77gr loads in 556, but better ballistics than my 18" Grendel.

Ya, lolz...trying to get ammo done before the sun faded...Cranked it out as fast as i could. Swapped the 223 toolhead, swapped plates and started chunking the handle for 30rds. Finished with a little light left, and a nongrumpy wife!

Dillon powder measures work well for fine grained powders.

For big granules like Varget and 4350, they wont wok well for getting the ES/SD down to acceptable levels for long range.

cfe223 and lever are both ball powders, the variance of the velocities are within +- .1gr as advertised. After polishing the inside of the hopper on my 223 powder assembly, it's damn near 100% accurate...Just gotta quit making and eating cheesecake to get that done on tac6 toolhead.
