Default Uberti Yellowboy Rifle Saves Couple from 250-Pound Black Bear in Colorado

Uberti Yellowboy Rifle Saves Couple from 250-Pound Black Bear in Colorado

According to Uberti, the well-known Italilan gunmaker specializing in reproductions of Old West era firearms, a Texas man defend himself and his wife from an intruding 250-pound black bear using one of the company?s 1866 Yellowboy rifles.

Bill Williams, fired eight shots from the lever-action carbine chambered for .45 Long Colt in close quarters, killing the bear after it broke into the 400-square-foot cabin in Colorado that he was occupying with his wife, Stephanie, the release from Uberti says.
This article reads to me like an Uberti advertisement. The story also doesn't pass the smell test with me.

Am I alone in coming to that conclusion?

I feel the same way, but nothing that is written jumps out at me as a red flag.

Well, doing a google search for “Bill Williams” and “colorado bear attack” only brings up stories of some famous Colorado mountain man named “Old Bill Williams”.

I found a couple that own a cabin near Creede, Mineral County. Tax mailing address is Conroe TX.
It is probably true story. Maybe Bill sent a picture to Uberti, usually these things happen because food was left outside in the trash.
I had a close encounter with a bear in Victor,CO. Bear was in the dumpster, me and the dog cornered it against a 8 foot chain link fence. The bear stood and screamed, we ran back to the camper. I'm sure it could kill us both easily.

He should have used a 10mm. Would have needed only one shot.

In all fairness, never says how many times he actually hit the thing.

I find it hard to believe that the bear was on the couch when there was a "Lazy Bear" recliner right there JMHO

I was going to say resisting arrest. Probably too soon though.
