    Default Any Chevy mechanics here?

I've got a 2014 Silverado that I think is needing a new thermostat. Temp gauge is running cooler than normal and fluctuating, and heater isn't like it used to be. Looked up the process on YouTube and actually changing it ain't no thang, but then the dude hooked up a computer and had to change a buncha shit, and that's outta my league.

Any wrenches here? Close to Parker? Maybe trade for deprimed and wet polished brass?

Captain Obvious here, but you have checked the coolant level haven't you? Sounds a lot like low coolant symptoms.

I think I found the video you were looking at...

the stuff with the computer and tuner software is just because he is changing from the stock thermostat (usually 194F) to a lower temp thermostat (160F).

Assuming you are swapping to a new stock thermostat, no computer wizardry is required.

Yeah, I?d definitely start there for sure. Funny how cooling systems act when they don?t have coolant in them.

He?ll probably find out the intake manifold gaskets are junk and sucked all of the coolant into the engine. He?ll be sad that it wasn?t as simple as a thermostat.

Good luck and let us know what you find out.

Oh yeah, coolant level was the 1st thing. It's fine. Coolant is too. Bozarth couldn't "prove" to the extended warranty co. that there's actually an issue. No "code" for it, heat was "within specs", yada yada.

Problem is, I have no idea what the stock thermostat temp is.

Pretty sure stock is right around 195.

I've seen anywhere from 194F to 207F listed as the stock value.

From all my searches, for a 2014 silverado, the officially listed OEM part is part number 15-11125

This is a replacement housing / seal / thermostat.

Make sure Rock Auto will even ship to you first. After shipping it's probably the same and faster from Amazon.
