    Default Lost a circuit

For no apparent reason, a circuit went out this afternoon in the garage. Not a big deal since it primarily affects the Xmas lights. But can't figure out the source of the problem. Fuse wasn't tripped at the box, resetting didn't help, no load on the circuit at the time. WTF? I'll check all the extension cords in the morning to see if a deer stepped on one. Could that kill a circuit without tripping the fuse?

    Follow the power.

The 99 cent cheap Chinese outlet is my suspicion as of this time. Possibly the installation of said outlet.

Check the house for gfci and reset them all. If it's an outside outlet, sometimes the gfci is inside

The fuse in the light string went out. You hooked too many of them up.

Nothing has changed regarding outlets (all original from 20+ years ago). Only one is gfci and reset did nothing, all indoors. The circuit just blinked out in the middle of the day with no provocation from us.

I'll check lighting strings but can that kill the circuit when they aren't powered in middle of the day? All LED so draw is low.

Edit to add: Yep, gfci is tripping for the outlet that has the main string of lights (same set for several years, worked fine until today). Only one gfci on the circuit. Didn't think it would take everything else down.

If this is a breaker, and not an actual fuse, the breakers themselves can and do wear out eventually, especially prior to D-Square.

ETA: I missed your ETA while posting this. Sounds like it is resolved.

A friend had an outside outlet die, along with some super random other outlets (like the garage). Everything was tied to the GFCI outlet in the master bath upstairs. Took quite a while to track down.

Plug in something known good to the outlet. If gfci trips likely gfci. They usually last no more than 20 years

    If not. Diagnose the lights.

    Shitter full?

See you found the gfci tripped. Happens a lot with the garage circuit here too.
