    Default DSA

Anyone own a DS Arms FAL, or used one. I've come across a couple for sale, and have always wanted one, but don't know a ton about them.

The DS SA-58 is a nice rifle, looks a lot like the 'normal' FAL. Depending on the configuration will give different ergonomics, etc. I have played with the DSA SA58 18" PARA style rifle and while heavy a nice build. It takes the metric style mags, and uses some of the same metric style hardware.

At the time I had my hands on the hardware I did not have access to ammo or a place to shoot. My opinion is I rather have a new build over a metric parts kits with mis-matched parts. The rifle was picked up via Aim Surplus and was about discounted 400 off the list price. For the price that was paid I thought it was worth while hardware. A bit heavy to lug for deer hunting, but will up to the task. With the adj gas port (not sure if feature on all models), you could dial in what is needed to handle different ammo.

    Common hardware configuration

    16" Premium Traditional Profile Barrel.
    4150 - 11595E Mil-Spec Barrel Steel
    Chrome Lined Chamber & Bore
Barrel Features Bi-Pod Cut & Front Sling Swivel.
    Barrel Threaded 9/16x24 LEFT.
    7.62 X 51mm NATO.
4140 Fully Machined & Heat Treated Cast Steel Type 1 or Type 2 Receiver - Carry Handle or Non Carry Handle Cut.
    Traditional Metric Cocking Handle Included.
Belgian Style Combo Device Flash Hider.
U.S. Made Glass Filled Nylon Pistol Grip.
U.S. Made Glass Filled Nylon Reinforced Full Length Handguards.
    Traditional FAL PARA Folding Buttstock.
Light Weight Alloy Lower Trigger Frame.
    20 Round Metric Magazine.
Owners Manual, Hard Case & Sling Included.
    Matte Black Duracoat Finish Included.

[ full 100% in the US of A, so it not an import 922r rules don't count]

What would be metric other than barrel threads that I would need to be concerned about?

The Para with the folding Ace stock is a great looking and feeling gun but a biotch to shoot. If you hug up a bit too tight it will womp you on the nose.

I love that Para stock but I think i would go fixed just knowing that looking cool may take away from the fun of shooting

There are inch and metric versions of the FN FAL.

The mags would be the big issue for most owners...

If you want good info on the FAL platform JerryMrC is your best resource, that man has forgotten more than us mere mortals could ever remember on the FAL.
I have built and owned more than a few, I cut my teeth on the FALFILES when it was a good forum.
$150.00 pristine part sets, $125.00 receivers.......those days are long gone.
That being said I prefer the G3 platform for a MBR platform, straightline recoil impulse, CHEEP magazines, no gas system to fiddle with and it doesn't care what ammo you feed it, it will go bang and with better accuracy than a FAL.
I have yet to see a FAL that will do any better than 1 MOA consistently.

I?ve got a dozen or so FALs, they are my favorite rifles by far. The DSAs have had their ups and downs, see if you can function check it at a range, be sure to read up on adjusting the gas system before you do so that you don?t confuse short stroking and feeding issues with something that can be fixed just by turning up the gas. Always use steel surplus mags, DSA mags nor any other repro mags don?t work worth a shit.
