Savage mk2 has extraction issues. Otherwise it's a fun and accurate choice.

That 10/22 was a project I put together a while ago. Mine runs fiber irons with a fluted tacsol though and their rear sight wiggles... Plastic trigger housing guns got me thinking about it when ruger switched. Also has a super short length of pull for youngins. You could shave a bit more weight if you pulled the bolt lock components and lightened (bubba) the stock, thinned the trigger a bit and drill a cleaning rod hole in the reciever. But all that would be maybe 3 ounces.

I've got another setup in mind that will likely save about 1lb off this one but requires starting over

I think some of the early mk2's had extraction issues but pretty sure there were easy fixes and Savage has since corrected the issue.

If anyone knows what the fixes are, let me know. My little brother has a Savage with extraction issues.

Aguila, Remington, cci, wolf match. Maybe 1 in 20 if the bolt is super clean

Wow... 100% not my experience with any of mine (multiple 22's, and a couple of 17's.)

Looking tonight for an answer. Looks like it's an extractor spring savage will provide an updated part

Okay thanks. He bought his on his 18th birthday so his model is like 15 years old. Sounds like they've since corrected the issue. I'm sure he'll be glad to have an easy answer.

I have two Savages I built up as .22 trainers. One is in a chassis that goes really small for the kids and the other is in a Boyds Tacticool stock. The shoot incredibly well considering the barreled action and trigger was a whopping $200.

My kids and my self have really been enjoying shooting precision 22lr. Only thing is quality ammo is a little hard to find right now.
    Don't be stupid!!!!!
