    Default AR15 remove semi-automatic system

With the current ammunitions condition, I have no 30-06 Springfield projectiles for my bolt action rifle, and I have had to shoot long distances with the AR15 in 5.56 NATO.
I want to increase the accuracy and I came up with the idea of removing the semi-automatic system and doing it manually. This means I won't have any moving parts during the shot and I won't lose projectile power for that task.

It wants to remove the gas tube and reverse the gas block in the vertical to cover the gas hole in the barrel and thus disable the automatic recharge system. The process would be reversible at any time when the situation is normalized.

Please let me know if you ever saw it do, if it actually gives benefits in terms of accuracy in the order of 400 meters. If the connoisseurs see any problems I don't see.

    Thank you for the feedback.

It would likely help some but in most cases I think that the person pulling the trigger has a larger margin for error than the rifle does in the first place, as in I don’t think that most people are good enough at shooting to notice any measurable difference that there would be. In the case of the FAL you can simply turn the gas plug to single shot and people have played with that feature for ages and no one can say for certain that it improved accuracy at all.

This has been done before - you will gain a little velocity, which will help with inaccurate distance measurements, but there is not really a gain in mechanical accuracy. You will also have the bolt rifle shooter's problem of breaking position to cycle the gun (I can hear the groaning already from the bolt gun cultists).

You should also know that it can be more difficult to cycle the action manually than you might imagine.

The easiest way is to get an adjustable gas block, and turn it off. Pretty much all semi-auto guns need gas tuning anyway, so this is a good investment. I recommend only the Superlative Arms gas block.
A side-charging upper will make this much easier. The gun becomes a straight-pull bolt action.
You could use a setscrew in the gas port or the front sight base to block gas.
You can also look at the pump action and straight-pull rifles from Troy.

    9mm - because they don't make a 9.1mm

Just get a gas block with a shut off and leave the rest alone. Unless you have your heart set on a hand cycle AR.

Anyone mention an adjustable gas block?

As for accuracy. that's on your capability to hit a target, consistently in the same spot. or close to it. IMO Buy an AR in 22lr and practice with that. OR one of the airsoft AR's Be it 15-20 yards, using an airsoft, or 200 with a real gun. The mechanics is the same. Sight picture, trigger and breathing control and most of all, Practice

Or, just get a bolt gun that eats your 5.56 ammo....

Seems to me that the point of having an AR15 is defeated if you neuter it.

You sir, are a specialist in the art of discovering a welcoming outcome of a particular situation....not a mechanic.
