    Default Reloading "Recipes"

I thought it'd be nice to have a thread dedicated to allow folks to post up their "recipes" for the rounds they reload. I know we've had folks post these throughout the sub-forum but having a thread dedicated to this information, stickied at the top, could greatly reduce the need to search around the forum.

    Recommended items to include:

    • Caliber
    • Case
    • Case length
    • Primer
    • Powder
    • Powder Load/Wt
    • Bullet Type/Wt
    • Bullet seated depth
    • COAL
    • And, if you have the data available, the velocity of the load.
    • If you are knowingly loading +P or other higher pressure loads, please state this in your post.

Notice to any who might wish to use any data posted in this thread:

    • Members are posting data of handloads they've tried for themselves as a means of sharing.

    • You recognize that the use of any/all load data is at your own risk.

    • Do your own research to verify safety, loadability and reliability prior to loading.
    • The site and its members accept no liability for the reloading data provided by members.

Nice. Most forums frown on this type of information mostly for some sort of liability reasons.

Well.. a classic hardball .45 load would be 5.8- 6 grains of Unique and a 230 grain fmj... I have a bunch of cci large pistol primers, whatever brass... 1.260" OAL. Just off the top of my head.

9mm with Titegroup makes me smile.
38 Special with 231 is easy.
40 with N320 makes me happy.
41 Mag with Unique is perfect.
45 ACP with Clays makes me giggle.
454 Casull with N-110 makes cool fireballs.
223, 308 and 375 H&H with Varget just plain works.
243 and 300 Win Mag with H-1000 wont burn up a barrel which makes me smile.
6.5 Creed and H4350 is easy.
416 Rigby and 470 Nitro with H4831 rock my world.

Powder charge, OAL and bullet weights subject to change.

I really like a hard cast 240 grain swc or rnfp, win large pistol primer and 20ish grains of 2400 in the .44 magnum.

Start low, work up slowly checking for pressure signs... you know the drill.

Speaking of .44's... a load I really like that you won't find in the books is 7.8-8 grains of Unique in a .44 mag case with the same 240 grain lswc. Easy to shoot all day. I get about 950 fps from my guns. A little warmer than a .44 special load, definitely lighter than full house .44 mag. Basically similar to the original 45 Colt load, or a slight step up from a 45 acp +P.
