I did not get my archery elk tag either, got third choice which was 4th Rifle. Got my 1st choice on Pronghorn today though.

Didn't draw for antelope, as expected, but my two buddies brand new to hunting drew second choice antelope tags for the same unit, so I'm going anyway.

You can hunt bear in any unit where you have a deer or elk tag, and in all four seasons, not just the season you have the deer or elk tag.

You can't harvest an animal or develop experience if you don't hunt every year.
I been stacking preference points forever for elk. Normally I?ll grab an OTC or leftover, but some years life gets the in way and I have to limit my time in the field, when this is the case I normally just stick to deer. Sadly it?s been so long since I got one that I am really looking forward to getting in on one of these ranches and getting a dream bull.

Can be just as fun as the guy running the glass. I?ve been known to see more glassing from near camp than the guys going out with the tags.

I think the public land state licenses will continue to be the most affordable opportunity.
They really do. I don?t bother with sheep and goat because of them. I decided paying $50/year for the moose would be the better route.

Even the better Turkey tags take 5+ points so it can cost $35 in points just to get the tag.

With the time and money invested in a moose tag for Colorado, it might be worthwhile looking into an Alaska hunt. DIY and do research from the net with maybe a scouting trip during fishing season. The license is $800, no guide required. It is beautiful country up there as well.

Thanks for the information. I just figured I had enough preference points in moose to keep collecting until I get one.

Always figured the way to hunt them would be a trip like that. I tend to see a decent amount of moose in the woods here so figure why not.

Well, I went 0/7 this year, 4 of those were not a surprise, but I'm definitely a little bummed about not drawing any of the other 3. Well, OTC elk and bear might be my focus. I have a feeling there is going to be a lot of orange in the woods this year...
