Christensen Arms

Has anyone used a Christensen rifles any for hunting or precision shooting? I have been seeing them for years and it seems they are now a more mainstream rifle. I am mainly looking at the carbon fiber barrel models as I would like weight reduction for hunting trips.
I have a few .22s with carbon fiber and they make it difficult to stay on target because they are so light, just over 3 lbs. This is countered by a good solid rest from a tree or bag. I see they have a bolt .22 now as well

They are "Ok". They are light, decent rifles, but not worth the extra cash and hype in my opinion. I think you would be better of building a custom light-weight (carbon/titanium/etc). You can have a good rifle smith build one exactly how you want it. Eric at Blue Mountain Precision does a lot of stuff like that. He is good people.

Buy a Bighorn Origin action, order a prefit Proof Research carbon barrel and torque it on, add a Triggertech trigger, drop it in a Manners stock with mini chassis or something similar. You will be head and shoulders better off than a Christensen. That said if you can score a smoking deal on a nice used Christensen they are OK. I wouldn’t pay full retail for one though. Delfuego is right on.

Sounds good. I have a smith who I was talking with this morning about my next build. He has built several for my all ready. I have a 700 in 25-06 in an HS precision stock that I am thinking of a .35 Whelen. He got excited and said he has about 700 round of new brass and a lot of bullets as well.

I think there newer stuff shoots pretty solid. Actions have gotten smoother, the barrels from the last few years seem to shoot better as well.

I have one of their older rifles. They spun a new tube on it while back and it definitely does better than the old one ever did. I've heard some pretty good reviews on their MPR as well.

But like others said, unless Christensen has a rifle exactly like you want or you need a factory gun (nrl hunter divisions etc) then you'd be better served with having a smith spin you up exactly what you want.

My buddy picked up a 300WM from em...He brought it over for me to torque everything down, and to mount the scope. After getting things done, I thunked it was an ok off the shelf gun. After finding out what he paid for it, I laughed to myself and thought that he could of built a custom gun for the same price. His gun has a carbon-wrapped barrel, looked good on the borescope, didn't see any issues. The trigger wasn't awful for a bolt gun, but a TT would have been better. Long story short, if you need a bolt gun that's off the shelf, go for it, but a custom will outperform it any day...

I have a brown MRP in 300 PRC. I was hoping to have a LR/ELR/Hunting rifle. Mine was on sale and I received a small Mil discount to save on the tax. The good- sub MOA, light and it’s a great looking rifle. The bad- I can’t get it to group after 10 rounds. I will shoot 3 rounds to confirm zero, make adjustments ( if needed) and attempt to shoot a 5 round group, by the start of my third group, the rounds are walking. I’m on the fence about calling their CS and sending it back.
My group sizes from a couple days ago-(yds) 100-.9, 100- 1.35, 200- 1.26 , 200 (2nd group)-3.15, 300-2.08”. I have to wait at least 5-10 mins between groups unless I want it to walk.
