Self Defense as Defense in Court

Here is a video depicting self defense. What is your opinion?

If it was CA or NY , that was a murder.
In Texas as seen photo, it can be self defense.

All this could have been prevented if assholes let other assholes see their kid? ( if court allowed or had previous arrangement)
