Default Opinion wanted: Fence post setting: Foam versus concrete

Anyone have any experience using setting foam instead of concrete?

    Better? Worse? Horror stories?

Have to replace a couple wood fence posts that broke in yesterday's wind, and am thinking of going the foam rather than the concrete route.

I never knew such a product existed. Been waiting for warm weather to return before fixing my mailbox post.

Wyoming fence guys compare foam, wet set and dry set concrete.

They claim the utility guys are using foam in their posts.

Looks like wet is best but foam isn't too bad.

They were planting steel poles. I would think that if you are using wood, the post is more likely to fail than any method, provided it's done correctly.

We set up about 5 of them several years ago for a small fence to screen our HVAC units outside.

Foam is pricey compared to concrete, but so convenient. It has held up well.

For small jobs, or I don't wanna eff with concrete i don't have a problem using it.

I?ve used the industrial version of that to set 35 ft. 12?? diameter fiberglass poles to mount intelligent roadway devices on.
When cars & trucks hit them at Highway speeds, it either folds the pole at ground level or shears them off barely budging the underground hardened foam.
