    Default Actual pocket knife carry?

Back story: my grandfather and my dad always carried a pocket knife. Usually a two blade trapper. Several years ago my dad gave me a pretty nice Case trapper for Christmas.

I would love to actually carry it but absolutely hate a knife floating around loose in my pocket and usually ending up laying sideways in the bottom which literally drives me bonkers.

I pretty much only carry a knife with a pocket clip because it holds the knife in one place and I don?t have to jam a dirty hand all the way in my front pocket to grab it.

I have seen different options that will carry the trapper on my belt but honestly I don?t like that idea either.

Short of adding some sort of clip to the knife, does anyone have an idea of a clean, unobtrusive way to carry a traditional small folding knife without it just floating around in a pants pocket?

Sew a little knife pocket into your trousers.

I thought about adding a clip. I am pretty capable of drilling and tapping but honestly I have never tried it for something that tiny. I suppose I could try drilling and tapping something other than the knife for practice and if I can successfully make tiny, threaded holes then I could try it on the knife.

As to modifying my trousers, I have seen some stuff online where people have done that but I would have to think that through a bit as I would still want the option of carrying something else without the modification interfering with the ability to do so.

I dabble in kydex and had even thought about making a little sheath for the trapper that I could clip to my pocket just like my normal carry knife but haven?t racked my brain to think of a workable design.

Thanks for the ideas so far.

    Jeans with watch pockets?

I carried a Trapper in high school. Tucked it in the back pocket next to a folded hanky.

How about using a knife built for a clip for everyday use so that in case of loss or damage it is just “oh well” instead of a sentimental item.

There are plenty of choices that can be used to tactically open Amazon boxes.

Since I'm always afraid of losing whatever I carry, I've been carrying this inexpensive lightning OTF knife for a couple of years. It has a pocket clip on the other side that works great in the small slash pocket on the right side of my 5.11 Taclite Pro Pants.

I like the combination of the two a lot!
