Good LOCAL source for boots?

I do a lot of Amazon and other online shopping, but when it comes to something that's got to fit on my feet or my head, I hate to mail order because of worry about fitment, returns, etc.

I need a new pair of boots. I don't like cowboy boots or any other boot that doesn't conform to my feet. Ideally I'd like something like a hunting/work boot that is comfortable for walking, waterproof (a must), and protects past my ankles so I can wear it riding my motorcycle.

It would be awesome if it had a side- or back-zipper so I could put it on and take it off quickly.

Can anyone recommend a local place to look for boots like this? I will keep a nice pair of boots for years so I don't mind spending a little money to get something that's going to last. In the past I've gone to the Surplus Store at Broadway and Hampden but I haven't been there for a while. Most of the chain "shoe shops" like DSW sell cheap shoes and that's not what I'm looking for.

I'm wondering if any of the shops that sell police gear might have something I need. Anyone know a good place and do they sell to non-LEOs?

I usually hit up the surplus store on south Broadway, just north of Hampden. Good selection and reasonable prices.

I get my work boots from either Whitesides in Brighton or Boot Barn. May not have the type of style you?re looking for but they do have a decent selection of boots that aren?t cowboy boots.

If you intend to use them for riding, you might just look into some that are geared to that activity. Maybe check Cycle Gear, Revzilla, or Performance Cycle or some place that sells riding gear.

Duluth trading has some decent ones I picked up on sale one day. Treated me well for a few years now.

Been years since I was there, but you might try Hill Bros Boots at 1901 S. Broadway.

The Surplus store has some excellent brands. I purchased some Carolinas there a few years ago, and they're still in like-new shape.

I second Hills Brothers, used to be owned by a good friend of the family. For side zip boots, I would try Galls.

The Army Navy store, in Arvada, has a good selection of work boots.

I run away from Surplus store boots, I have NEVER gotten good boots through them and the prices are no deals IMO.
I am a boot snob, sore feet, crappy boots or a poor fit make for miserable days.
I have always worn mountaineering/heavy hikers. I have had very good luck at Wilderness Exchange, La Sportiva factory store in Boulder, REI(haven?t been to one since they went full blown woke) and Neptune Mountaineering.
I won't bat an eye at dropping $3-400.00 on quality boots as I know they support my feet well, keep my feet warm and last a long time.
When I started at the State many moons ago my wife shit kittens (with claws extended) when I dropped $250.00 on a pair of Fabiano’s from Colorado Shoe Company.
They lasted me about 9 years, had them resoled once.
Money well spent.
It sounds like you want a “Do it All” boot and in all honesty, ain’t t no such thing. Pick the right boot for your planned activity.
I have boots to last me the rest of my life.
The blue ones are probably my favorite, they are Raichle Mountaineering boots that haven’t been made for 20 years. I found them in of all places a Goodwill and they still had the factory tags on them, I paid $10.00 for them.
