Yeah, the surplus shops in Arvada and off Hampden carry pretty much the same shitty work boots everyone else carries. Bass Pro, Cabelas, Sportsmans Warehouse, Big R, Murdochs, Boot Barn, they are all pretty much the same. Neptune in Boulder has good boots for hiking/mountaineering/hunting. Haven’t found a good place that has good quality casual/work boots yet.

    I hate footwear shopping.

EE/EEE feet do that to a man.

When I do find a pair that works, I should probably buy 2 because eventually they'll wear out and no longer be made. Last pair I bought, uninsulated Pronghorns (better model) were a compromise because the "best" model wasn't in stock in the size I needed. I need a pair of medium height waterproof hikers but with current supply chain fukedness, it's impossible to find anything.

The Englewood Army Surplus used to be great, lots of brands, models and sizes, all new. I haven't been in a while though. Sierra Trading Post can also have a good selection of boots. There is one in Castle Rock and one at University and Orchard.

The wife and I went to Sierra when they were only in Cheyenne and yes they had a great selection- I did notice that the pair of boots I tried on didn't feel right and looking it didn't appear that the tongue had been sewn in correctly. Made me wonder if they get 2nds and the like.

Red Wing shoe store treated me well for work boots (when I worked). Not sure what stores are still around but the USA made boots were comfortable and lasted.

I am creature of habit and tend to buy Salomon boots from wherever I happen upon a pair in my size, while out with the wife... or if I need one quickly just get them online since I know how they fit my feet already. I'm a huge fan, but admit they're not in the "work boot" category. They're a hiking boot. Some are thicker/warmer than others, but every pair I've owned has been a great value.
