Antelope Unit 135 Otero County/La Junta Area
Wasn't able to get any antelope tags in the regular or secondary draw this year so I picked up a leftover tag. Unit 135 private land only. Was planning on doing some old fashioned door knocking and asking for permission down there. Wondering if any members here have any experience down in that unit or know of any land/landowners who would be open to letting me shoot an antelope? Wouldn't be opposed to a reasonable trespass fee as well. Any advice or tips would be greatly appreciated. Thanks!

That unit has a lot of public land as the grasslands are a large part of it. Landowners down there in that general area don?t tend to mind people hunting pronghorn, it?s just a matter of finding those that do not tell you no right away. I would head out ASAP trying to contact them, as the season approaches they often have ?enough? people hunting. Most of the ranches down there seem to be owned by people out of state and ran by someone local who may not even live on the property. Hanging out in the bars/restaurants in town may yield some leads. Still I would expect a lot of the nice ways to say no.
I?ve been in the grasslands before and seen a decent number of them running around.
Good luck this season.

Appreciate the info! Sounds pretty similar to the grasslands up this way.
