    Default Dental implant recommendation

I have a root canal thats going bad. Dentist referred me to an oral surgeon. I have to get it pulled. I'll be paying for it out of pocket, so I need someplace reasonable. Someone on the west side would be ideal. Thnaks.

Dealing with this recently myself, best deal I have found is pretty consistent at $3k per.

Use HSA/FSA funds if you have them.

Outside your area, but I'm in the middle of the process at the moment.

So far the implant is in and we're waiting for the bone to heal around it.

The $3k figure is a good working number.

I've been really impressed with Dr Facy at https://www.coloradomax.com/. I've had good conversations with her and we settled on good trade-offs.

For example, I'm really chill at the dentist no matter what's being done. I almost fell asleep during a root canal, for example.

Facy wanted knock me out for the extraction, and after discussion, agreed to just a local. Saved me about $400 - that wasn't the reason for doing the local (I felt I just didn't need to be knocked out - and I was right) but it was a nice side effect.

When it came to the implant I asked about a local again, and she said that if anyone could do it on a local I could, but there were other reasons (mouth being cranked open, etc.) that she'd prefer the Michael Jackson approach, so I allowed her to knock me out.

Close to zero pain after both the extraction and implant. Never filled the prescription for the pain medicine, in fact never took anything for pain.

Check out Costa Rica for dental work. They and other nations have a huge medical travel industry. Work it into a vacation.

I had mine done at Nova Dental, in San Jose, Costa Rica. 110% would do it again. Cost there versus US paid for the trip and I spent a week in country between the implants and fitting the temporary ones, went back six months later for the final ones.

Courtyard by Marriott shares the parking lot. Spend your time between extraction and temp fitting in Manuel Antonio. PM me for bed and breakfast recommendations......

Wish I could talk the wife into this for her dental work. Of course, she also let her damn passport expire and still needs to renew it.

There's a lot to be said about being able to walk up to the dentists' door and ask him to fix something if he got it wrong.

Your dentist probably has guys he trusts, and if you trust him, then there you go.

    Yuma, AZ is much closer.

Los Algodones is a border town that caters to "medical tourists" especially snow birds and full-timers. There is a huge parking lot at the border and you used to be able to cross on foot without a passport. I don't know if that is still possible.

The town is full of pharmacies and dentists. Many Americans will get a year's worth of prescriptions and fill their dental and vision needs in one trip.
