This is probably a stupid question, but what's the point of dumping fuel on the drone? Hoping it might catch fire? And has this tactic been used before?

Just a guess here, but perhaps dump the fuel on the drone and in it's path, then hit the afterburners to ignite the fuel. That's all I can think of.

I think I remember seeing some video of the Aussies doing that in the F-111 during an air show. Pretty awesome!

Dump fuel on it. Then drop a flare on it. The flare is a block of magnesium. Flare hit one propeller blade and damaged it. I was told when I worked these systems to be careful. Supervisor said the flare would completely burn through the runway. I just worked the avionics, munitions troops handled the flares,bombs, etc.
