A mountain lion clawed a man in the head over the weekend while he was sitting in a hot tub a few miles west of the town of Nathrop
They screamed and splashed water at the mountain lion and shined a flashlight at it. It then retreated about 20 feet.
The couple called the rental home's owner, who called CPW.
"We think it's likely the mountain lion saw the man's head move in the darkness at ground-level but didn't recognize the people in the hot tub," said Sean Shepherd, a CPW area wildlife manager based in Salida.
Neither article mentions if the "hot tub" also contained potatoes, vegetables and delicious chunks of seared marmot.
