Default Looking for a new TV

It?s time to replace my 10 year old 42? Vizio. Nothing wrong it, but my God son needs one for his room, so I?m using this excuse to upgrade and give him the old one for his Xbox. The place where it?s going is 67? wide so size isn?t too big of an issue. I?m looking at 55?-65? tv?s but they range from $300-$1800. I?m hoping someone with more expertise than me can point me in the right direction.

Upgrading from an 10 year old TV, anything should be ?better? than what we have now. I?m looking to spend around $500 +/-. I have a Sam?s membership and Amazon account, but I?ll purchase from wherever if the deal is good. Can someone point me in the right direction?

I prefer the current Sony TVs over the Samsungs but you can't go wrong with either.

Another Sony fanboi here. Always liked their picture quality and their build quality.

A 3rd vote for Sony. We have been very happy with our 55 inch. I replaced a Vizio with a Samsung, and the Samsung with the Sony.

I’ve owned both, and think the picture quality is pretty comparable at equal price points. All my TVs are now Samsung because we don’t have cable, only stream.
All Samsung TVs have “Samsung TV” built in which like having a mid grade cable package for free… movie channels, music, outdoor channels, so many channels it’s kinda odd it’s free and alway seem to be able to stumble onto something when there is nothing I want watch on Netflix, HBO, etc.
Hell, there is always a shooting show on one of the outdoor channels if you don’t want to watch a fishing or hunting show.

Just go to Costco and buy the biggest one that fits where you want it to go... these days, the only reason why one is better than another is because you looked at them side by side to compare.

Kind of what I was thinking about doing at Sam’s/Best buy.

I bought a 60” Samsung TV at Best Buy almost a year ago for $600. It has a great picture.
