My wife hit a road hazard on the interstate last week. Camera footage would not have changed the insurance collision claim, so far as I'm aware, but we are once again considering a dash camera.
The threads on the subject I found when searching are several years old, so I'm starting a new one asking for recommendations.
I'm looking for something that provides clear video for the front of the vehicle. A rear camera would be nice, but I'm not as interested in the rear because I don't currently have the desire to run 20 foot of wire to connect the two cameras. There is power in the back of the vehicle, so two separate systems front and rear is more appealing than a linked package at the moment.
I don't think we care about sound or GPS.
Ease of use and reliability is important, if it's hard to tell when it's actually on and working she's not likely to check and fix an issue. Easy retrieval of recordings ranks pretty high on the list as well.
