    Default 2024 Action Steel Championship

Still slots open, dont miss out.

    Hello All,?

We are only a week away from the greatest Action Steel Championship shooting match in the history of speed shooting. If you have not registered, or if you want to sign up for additional guns, you have until 7:30 PM on Monday June 17th?when registration closes. We want to remind you that you have to shoot each gun on separate schedules.?

We recommend bringing at least 500 rounds for each division.? And bring enough magazines... each stage will be at least 40 rounds.? A couple of stages may even be upwards of 60 rounds... who knows... we cannot reveal all the secrets, lol. Crazy things happen when we build these things. Remember there are no exact stage descriptions, just shoot all the static targets per the color codes. White is 3 shots, Black is 2 shots, and Yellow is 1 shot. Your score will be your time plus 3 seconds for each miss and a 3 second penalty for stepping outside the shooting area. You can draw from a holster or start at low ready.? If you are not comfortable drawing from a holster, the low ready option is available to you for every stage.? However, you will be given a 1 second penalty added to your time. You can have your magazines in mag pouches, in your pockets, or in a dump pouch etc.? We will paint between each shooter, and everyone must help paint to make the match run fast and efficiently.? All targets are static so there is no reset except to paint the targets.? We have two Range Officers per stage for the main match schedule: Friday - Sunday.

This year we will have a total of 67?performance awards. We award the top 10% in each division, top 3 ladies, top seniors, top lady seniors, super seniors, and juniors.? Each award medal is accompanied by a prize.? The?performance awards?prize table is worth over $15,000!? You do not have to be present for the award medals and prize. We will make sure you receive it if you cannot be present at the awards ceremony.

After the awards we will go on to the?random prize?drawings. You have to be present at the Sunday awards ceremony to be eligible for the random prizes. Make sure you have notified us on your Practiscore registration that you will be there.?We will draw prizes among those who have registered for the drawing and are present.

Our current random prize table is about $100,000 and it includes a thermal scope, suppressors, rifle scopes, red dots, back packs, holster hangers, ammo, shooting glasses, and more!??

Gold Bar Drawing: For each paid gun entry, you will receive a ticket to the ultimate drawing of one 1/2-ounce gold bar (max 3 tickets).? Range Officers and staff will receive one ticket each. You must be present to win.

We will have BBQ lunch available every day during the match and for your convenience water coolers will be located adjacent to every safety area throughout the match.?

Match registration can be found at the following link:??https://practiscore.com/colorado-act...-2024/register

Stage diagrams and squad matrix are attached below.

Lastly, a range access code is provided to all registered competitors in conjunction with Practiscore registration.? As a reminder, an access code email will be sent from Practiscore shortly after registration closes at 7:30 PM on June 17th.? If you are not a member of Weld County Fish & Wildlife/High Plains Shooting Range, please enter this code into the keypad at the front gate to gain entry to the range.? If you are a member, simply swipe your members gate card for entry.? This gate code will be active from 6:00 AM on June 20th to 6:00 PM on June 23rd.? Please do not share this code with anyone not shooting the match.?

We look forward to seeing everyone soon!

    Regards,

Colorado State Action Steel Championship Match Staff?

Hard not to have a good time with upwards of 500 rounds on steel. Even a slow old guy like me.

Looking forward to seeing some of the young speed demons burn up the stages.

Attended a USPSA match recently to make sure I had current safety card and was amazed by the speed displayed by some of the young guys. Cool to watch.

it was a great match--bring your running shoes, because one of the stages is over 100 yards deep, and another is close to it--unlike USPSA, you have to stay inside the shooting area for your movement or you get a penalty (just for touching the ground). Also, one foot out of the shooting area while making a shot is a penalty, both feet out of the shooting area while making a shot is a DQ.

One stage was 64 rounds. Most are over 40. Click image for larger version.

Run? Huh? Wonder if they will let the minions carry me.

Shortcuts are one of the things I like about USPSA.

Each time out of the shooting area is a 3 second penalty--most in my squad agreed it wasn't worth the time penalty
