Default New CO property tax legislation

DENVER, Colo. (KKTV) - Gov. Jared Polis called for a special session last month to try and find a solution to Colorado?s rising property taxes. That special session started a week and a half ago. The governor called the session to avoid adding some ballot measures that he says would have impacted funding for schools.

The actual text is available here: 2024b_1001_signed.pdf (colorado.gov)

Still need to wrap my head around what exactly this does and if it's an actual Dem rare win or more of the same shenanigans.

It's a dem win. I've only skimmed through it, but it caps the increases quite high, IIRC it caps it more than 50% above what the voter initiative wouldve been. And a voter initiative would've won by a huge margin. I halfway wonder if the proponents of that initiative got some "lobby" benefits passed along.

How can they cancel all the voters who signed the petition? Should have left it and let the legislature scramble.

Voters are irrelevant rubes, what matters now are ballots sent to illegals living 87 to a tent down by the river

Typical D move, tax every resident a few extra k, then toot your own horn and pull your pud when you "save" them $20 from all their additional taxes the following year.

I haven't read it but I'm confident we're getting screwed.
