It's that time of year again. We get to vote on new and silly propositions that will change our state.
Prop KK- 6.5% tax on firearms and ammunition. Proceeds will fund "Firearms and Ammunition Excise Tax Cash Fund to be used to fund crime victim services programs, education programs, and mental and behavioral health programs for children and veterans", because, you know... it's for the children.
Amendment 79- Constitutional Right to Abortion. A lil nugget they added is the repeal of section 50, article V, that states "Public funding of abortion forbidden". So now anyone gets her (or his!) abortion covered by the state. I can't figure out if this one is for the children or not.
Prop 127- Prohibit hunting of kitties. It's always a good idea to let uninformed city dwellers make wildlife management decisions. After all, what could go wrong?
Prop 131- Ranked Choice Voting- Let's vote for everyone, all at once. Then, through a convoluted process that is easily rigged, someone will eventually win. Was it the person you voted for? Yes, since you voted for them all! Everyone is a winner!
There are a couple on the ballot that make sense but for the most part, I foresee myself casting a whole lot of NOs.
